A Passion for Switzerland
I'm Scott — an American traveler who got his first passport in 2002 and has since explored 40+ countries. Switzerland captivated me with its dramatic alpine scenery, precise efficiency, world-class cuisine from cheese to chocolate, and the sheer variety packed into one small country. This is how years of obsessive trip planning became the travel guide I wished existed.
Travel has always been my escape from the rat race — and honestly, I enjoy the planning almost as much as being there. Researching destinations, mapping routes, finding that perfect mountain village. Switzerland has been one of the most rewarding countries I've explored — the variety alone is astonishing. You can wake up in Zurich, a world-class city, take a train through the Alps, and be in a perfectly preserved medieval village by lunch.
From the Jungfraujoch to the vineyards of Lavaux, from fondue in a centuries-old restaurant in Gruyères to craft beer and street art in Basel's backstreets — Switzerland rewards the traveler who slows down and goes deeper. The Swiss rail network is genuinely one of the great travel experiences on earth. The precision and reliability of everything is remarkable — and it extends far beyond trains.
I'm not a travel blogger. I work in healthcare IT. But Switzerland keeps pulling me back, and I finally decided to put everything I've learned into something useful — a site with honest prices, video content from the places I've actually been, and an AI trip planner that builds real itineraries. It's the resource I wished existed when I started planning my first trip.
The Journey So Far
Scott gets his first passport and begins exploring the world. 40+ countries would follow — but certain destinations leave a deeper mark than others.
The first trip to Switzerland. Clean streets, impeccable transit, the lake at golden hour. A train ride through the Alps that remains one of the most beautiful journeys Scott has ever taken. The realization that Switzerland is not just scenery — it is a masterclass in how a country can be organized and still feel human.
Lucerne, Interlaken, Geneva, Bern, the Bernese Oberland, the Ticino. Each trip reveals a new layer. The food culture is richer than most people expect. The hiking trails are world-class. The small villages are genuinely worth the detour. Switzerland depth keeps drawing Scott back.
The travel guide Scott wished existed finally becomes real — with video content, an AI trip planner, and honest recommendations built from real experience. Not recycled content from press trips. A real guide built by someone who loves this country.
The People Behind the Pages
Healthcare IT professional by day, travel obsessive by every other waking moment. Based in Southern California. Got his first passport in 2002 and has since explored 40+ countries. Switzerland captured his imagination with its dramatic alpine landscapes, extraordinary rail network, and the remarkable variety of culture, language, and cuisine packed into one small country. Enjoys the trip planning almost as much as the travel itself.
What You'll Never Find Here
I built this site because I got tired of Switzerland travel content that's secretly a press trip recap or a sponsored hotel review dressed up as honest advice. Discover Switzerland exists because I wanted the resource I wished I had when I started planning my first trip.
